Students will hone their empathy by investigating the needs of the community, identifying and defining the problems that need to be solved, and brainstorming ideas and actions to solve those problems. They will then design and prototype their own service projects and take actions to serve the community through their own initiative.
Drawing on Stanford’s Design Thinking framework, students would turn their attention to addressing their community's needs rather than simply fulfilling service hour requirements. This program will help students understand that by empathizing with others, they can take actions that can be impactful, no matter how big or small.
This program will be led by Design Thinking practitioners, community and business leaders.
